An extensive program for 2011 is being developed
New members welcome
Creative Textiles is not a teaching group but we hold regular workshops and group projects and guidance is always available.
The group endeavours to embrace all forms of free hand machine embroider, fabric manipulations and we all share an interest in textiles.
New members must have intermediate sewing skills.

It has recently become our practice to each put together a small parcel of fabrics and trims, and to exchange these gifts at our christmas party.
In the new year the members are challenged to use these pieces as the basis for a project.
This year it is “Make a Bolster”.

The versatility of free hand machine embroidery uses stitch as its medium to manipulate, slash and burn, stamp, paint, bead, cut and layer to create that special effect.
The techniques used create bags, hats, scarves, jewelery, designer wear, art to wear and other three dimensional items such as vessels, picture, frames, book covers, boxes cushions.

Fabric and Threads Creative Machine Embroiderers was formed in 1989 after a workshop conducted by Judith Parnell. There were 11 original members who became passionate about free hand machine embroidery.
The group applied for a grant for a cupboard and reference books which was the beginnings of our extensive library.
